Husay by Husay Team

Husay is a creative platform that aims to bring the very best Filipino creatives who provide high-quality creative services for businesses.

In simple terms, “husay” means “excellence,” and this is what they wish to bring out in each creative they meet. “Husay” is derived from an expression commonly used by Filipinos as part of their cultural lexicon, often exclaimed as “Ang husay naman!” when they witness someone displaying remarkable talent.

The platform caters to two things: learning for the creatives, and creative solutions for businesses, a holistic approach that they aim to provide as an end goal to make both of these audiences “Mahusay”. With a crafty play of meaning and words, they reached out to artist and designer Pao Yabao to visualize the goals.

The brand begins with a play of brush strokes on “Husay,” with colorful dots above making the strokes emulate people celebrating and embracing creativity. According to Husay Founder, Leah Rasay:

“I wanted a logo that speaks of human connection as the source of inspiration for making great art, whether that’s your profession or your personal passion. They say it looks like baybayin, but that wasn’t our intention. I guess it naturally resonates with the Filipino spirit of festivity and cherishing tight-knit relationships.”

The supplementary elements of the design also revolve around creative playfulness, as seen with a wide range of fonts and illustration styles. This can also be attributed to different artists and designers who worked on other moving parts of the brand, such as Brian Vee and Aliah Corpuz.

Another major inspiration, as mentioned by Leah, is MTV from the 90s, where the design looks static but becomes adaptable in certain needs and scenarios of the brand. This means there’s no one fixed look, yet you can still understand it as part of the Husay design ecosystem.
